The Occohannock on the Bay cookbook is dedicated to Miss Emily Bundick. She has blessed and touched many of us with her words, her smiles, and her hugs & kisses. But never have you tasted Heaven before until you have been fed by Miss Emily. She has nourished not only our souls but our tummies as well.
Thank you Miss Emily for giving yourself to Camp Occohannock for 34 years.

Emily Bundick's
"A Taste of Heaven"
by: Carl Bundick
It hardly seems thirty years ago my Mom, Miss Emily got the call to her ministry, the kitchen at the Methodist Camp, Camp Occohannock as we now know it, from Lucille Paughf, the wife of then Painter-Bethel Charge Reverend Carl T. Paughf.
At the time, the pastor of the Painter-Bethel Charge was assigned caretaker responsibilities of the Camp, and Mrs. Paughf called out to Miss Emily for help in the kitchen. "But Lucille," Miss Emily recalled, "I have never cooked for such large groups." the :call" to Miss Emily's ministry had been made. She answered Lucille's call and now 30 years later, I, as her son, now see how the ministry of the camp, the counselors and especially the children, as she has "fed their souls" while they strengthened her faith and nourished her soul. Her room is filled with mementos from the Camp, from the children whose lives she has ministered with her rolls, cinnamon rolls, pigs in a blanket, sodas, sandwiches, and "plain ole" camp cooking.
The idea that "A Taste of Heaven" would be dedicated to Miss Emily is greatly appreciated and will be forever cherished by her and her family. The camp has been a true love for her, as she honored my father Herman, at the time of his passing, and as this cookbook will serve to honor her strong faith, service, and dedication to a life filled with service to God.
