I return
each summer because OOTB is home, it’s family, it’s
safe, it’s sanctuary.
I’m returning for my second summer because I promised several
campers that I would.
I couldn’t picture my life without camp and I love the kids.
I love children and sharing my faith with them.
Camp to me is a world of God. You don't need to see anything just
to know that Camp Occohannock is filled with love and care from
the people that come and go. It is almost in a way a dream land;
once you step onto the beautiful land that God has greatfully created
the real world fades out as a small piece of Heaven is shown to
you. You seem to forget all about your worries and your troubles.
You can just take a deep breath and let everything go without having
to impress someone or worry about what someone is going to think
about you. Being able to see what God really meant when he said "It
was good" when he made the earth he most definitely had something
speacial in mind when he blessed the shore of VA with CampOccohannock.
With each person that comes to this place weighed down with burndens,
they leave empty footprints behind ready to take new steps in a
new life in this broken world.~ Michael
I don’t know what I would do without Camp Occohannock. I
love seeing the children that come to camp and watching them learn.
I miss the campers that I had last summer and really hope that
they come back this year. ~ Grace
Camp is a place where I return every summer and know that I will
be accepted, no matter who is there or how much others have changed.
It’s a place that is welcoming and life-changing. Each summer
when I leave with bags packed, a tan, and tears streaming down
my face, I know that I’m leaving with a new sense of who
I am in this world. ~ Shawnee
